IDEAS ARE EXPANDED HERE.
Expanded metal is a form of metal stock made by shearing a metal plate in a press, so that the metal stretches, leaving diamond-shaped voids surrounded by interlinked bars of the metal. The most common method of manufacture is to simultaneously slit and stretch the material with one motion.
Permeated by warmth and cold
The application of expanded metal is effected for aesthetic reasons and ensures an attractive design. The true strength of expanded metal, however, lies in the technical optimisation of objects and apparatus. Thanks to their excellent permeability, expanded metals provide, for example in cooling and heating devices, an optimal air circulation and temperature distribution.
